Manchester United have capped the transfer budget for Erik ten Hag to £ 120 million, according to reports. And while the Dutchman would like three signings, he is said to be ready to accept only three. The Red Devils have an interest in Frenkie de Jong, while Lisandro Martinez and Antony have also been linked.
Manchester United know they have a great summer ahead.
After losing Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Lee Grant, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Edinson Cavani on a free transfer, the Red Devils are determined to improve their squad.
They are apparently poised to submit a second offer for De Jong, with Barcelona having previously turned down his opening offer which was worth around £ 52m.
And, now, the Mirror says the club is working on a maximum budget of £ 120m this summer.
Previously, the Red Devils spent more. Especially under Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
But without the Champions League waiting for this season, as they finished sixth in the standings under Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last time around, they are now hampered.
Transfers Man Utd: Erik ten Hag already has his Darwin Nunez
Ideally, Ten Hag would sign two full backs, a central defender, a defensive midfielder, a creative midfielder and a forward.
But with limited funds, it is said that United are now agreeing to have to prioritize certain areas of their squad.
And a center-back, a forward and a midfielder are now top priorities for the Red Devils as they seek a vastly improved campaign next season.
United are said to be targeting “less high-profile players who are hungry for a chance to prove themselves.”
This is in stark contrast to previous years, when they chose Galacticos like Paul Pogba, Angel Di Maria, Alexis Sanchez and Radamel Falcao.
De Jong is their main target, although United and Barcelona are said to be £ 10m apart on their ratings for the midfielder.

Why Eriksen could be a Man Utd smokescreen
It has been claimed that Lisandro Martinez and striker Antony, who played under Ten Hag at Ajax, are also on the club’s radar.
And with United’s hierarchy accepting their priorities, it will be interesting to see what deals they can get over the edge.
United had been in the mix to recruit Darwin Nunez, admiring the striker who scored 34 goals in all competitions with Benfica last season.
Yet he has now joined Liverpool after the Red Devils felt his price was too high.
United supreme Richard Arnold recently told fans at a local pub that “there was money” to spend on new players.
But the club still appears to be operating on a tight budget and won’t overpay, which they’ve all too gladly done in the past.
Man Utd Calendar: When Erik ten Hag’s team takes on all Premier League teams
Meanwhile, former United star Patrice Evra has opened up his old team ahead of the Ten Hag era.
And he insisted that the club should have moved for Antonio Conte when he had the chance, before the Italian moved to Tottenham.
“My heart hurts,” the French international told The Mirror.
Because I think Conte, Klopp, Guardiola, all those managers are the best in the world right now and we could have had him at Manchester United.
“But some people at the club said, ‘It’s not our style, it’s not what we’re looking for.’
“So let’s see, now we have Erik ten Hag. Let’s see what he will do.

“He has my support. But then, even if I bring in a chef, as a manager of Man United, he would have my full support. “
And, on Conte specifically, he added: “It is a great disappointment because he could have done something at Man Utd.
And it shows that with Tottenham he helped them to qualify for the place in the Champions League.
“They have the same players, that’s why this manager is a genius. When I arrived at Juventus, every player told me: ‘Patrice, this guy is a genius.
“He’s addicted, he’s so passionate about football. So you will run really strong. He will make you sweat.
But if you look at the Tottenham fans, they are so happy because when they see the players now, they win or lose, they give it all. This is Antonio Conte’s mentality “.
