Dean welcomed Godwin’s decision to return and join what is likely to be tough competition at the receiver.
“She was a really good teammate,” said Dean. “We will have five or six pitchers and we need those people for daily practice. She is nice. She brings energy. She is carefree. She is not demanding. He is someone that players can open up to. You really understand what we are trying to do as staff ”.
Jessie Blaine, who has been battling troublesome injuries for much of last season, will be in the receiver’s mixed bag. Aubrie Lindsey shared time with Godwin last season as a true freshman. Incoming freshman Skylar Elkins, of Locust Grove, Georgia is a highly regarded receiver.

Like last season, weight training will be an important part of the preseason for Auburn players.
“We will get a more specific position,” Dean said. “Last year we tried to make them understand the importance of the weight room. This gives us the opportunity to go further. We will start in the weight room as soon as school starts on the first day ”.
Dean expresses optimism about his fifth full season as an Auburn softball manager.
“I don’t want to put the carriage before the oxen, but I feel really good with this team,” said Dean. “I feel really good about our level of talent. If we manage to stay healthy, I think great things await us. “
